lunchmo

A private lunch map that remembers where you’d go again.

This is not a review app. The only thing you record is whether you would go back. Lunch stops being a gamble, one place at a time.

Three things, and that is the app

  1. Put the place on your map

The app opens on the map of where you are. The first time, hold a point on the map to add the place there. No map, no location permission? The list screen takes a name and nothing else. From then on the place is a pin: tap it and its callout opens.

  2. Choose one of four

Open "edit" on the callout and pick one of four: go again, so-so, not great, never again. Save, and that is the whole record. Nothing to write, no score to think about.

  3. It pays off at lunch tomorrow

Open the same map tomorrow and the places you swore off are obvious. The time you spent wavering turns into time spent choosing.

What it does not do

  • It does not follow you around. Your location is read three times and no others: to give the map somewhere to start, when you press the locate button, and when you record a place. Nothing reads it in the background, and no trail of it is kept.
  • Your verdicts are yours. What you record is yours alone. There is no screen and no API for reading anyone else’s, and no way to publish your own.
  • No stars, no essays. Four buttons. When you look back, "would I go again" is the only thing you needed anyway.

The first place you record already makes tomorrow easier.
